| The strangest job I had was selling knives door to door. I called the number on one of those “Summer job – make lots of money!” ads and attended a meeting. It turns out it was a knife company. I took the job because I desperately needed the money. We had to purchase a starter kit of knives and they made us practice a script to pitch to customers. If you deviated from the script in any way, the pitch wouldn’t work. I spent hours pitching to customers who either already owned the knives, or were not convinced into spending $800 on a set of knives. After a few months, I finally made one sale then packed up my knife kit and called it quits! |
