The Worst Random Job
I worked at job a few years ago that required everything to be random. It started on the first day I arrived at the job (after filling out the usual paper work a few days before). The first thing the job gave me was a note pad, a head set, and pens and other office equipment.

At first I thought this office equipment belonged to me but I was told that the stuff was from an operator on a previous shift. Then I thought to myself, “I do not get my own pens, papers, headset and other documents, that is strange”.  But it got stranger. I was brought to an open office area where I was told that every day I will sit in a different location, it just depends randomly on who is leaving for that shifts. As I sat down in my new seat for the day a supervising operator came over and told me the rules at the job.

I will receive a used pen and notepad unless I brought my own.
First I will have to come in a predetermined time every day sometime between 8am and 2pm (and I was told this the day before). I had a new supervisor every day (apparently the staff had to switch shifts). My lunch time will be at a random time based on the time I came in plus four hours. My break (15 minute) was also scheduled at a random time that I had no control over. I had to make sure that no one else was on a lunch break before I could take one. At times I had to wait over an hour to go to the restroom.

The place where I sat was based upon what seat was left open when I got to work that day. I was also given a new locker location and new combination lock with a password everyday to store my work stuff.

This was one of the worst random jobs that I ever had and this place never felt like home. I stayed in that position for 6 month because I did not have a choice of many jobs in that crappy city. I would not recommend that any one work at this random job but I will not names. Good luck with your jobs.

Knives for Sale
The strangest job I had was selling knives door to door. I called the number on one of those “Summer job – make lots of money!” ads and attended a meeting. It turns out it was a knife company. I took the job because I desperately needed the money. We had to purchase a starter kit of knives and they made us practice a script to pitch to customers. If you deviated from the script in any way, the pitch wouldn’t work. I spent hours pitching to customers who either already owned the knives, or were not convinced into spending $800 on a set of knives. After a few months, I finally made one sale then packed up my knife kit and called it quits!
